I just like playing with colours. I am very new to all this type of makeup and trying my best to do a good job on myself all the times.

PhotoGrid_1516596079058

These are the product i used for my eye lids.

The eye shadow i used is the MUA eye shadow in Chestnut as base, midnight blue and MAC black eye shadow. I used the MUA eye shadow in champaigne in the tear dot. For mascara i am using L’Oreals volume million lashes.

For the look below i was not sure whether to go for red or a different colour lippy and in the end i went for the Barrym lip liquid in Signature. The signature colour is similar to Revlons pink pout which i love.

All Madeup with MAC studio fix fluid, concealer and prolongwear powder

Beauty, e.l.f Velvet Matte Ruby Red, Makeup, MUA Eye Shadow

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is yet another beauty blog about my recent MAC purchases. I have worn this on three occasions; twice last weekend and on new years eve so i thought a review was befitting.

IMAG0483

A quick recap regarding my recent purchases are the NW55 Studio fluid in NW55, concealer in NW45 and prolongwear powder in deep dark.

The fluid gives you a full coverage and holds up really well. It covers dark circles around the eye area and gives you a good canvas to work on and due to this, you can actually wear the fluid and powder for a natural no-makeup makeup look. For primer i used a bit of the loreal and milk of magnisia as i was going to be out for a while. I concealed with the MAC NW45 and set my under eye with ben nye powder in topaz and ebony to contour. I also used the Anastasia Beverly Hills glowkit  bronze  to highlight.

Having applied the MAC NW55 foundation on

My thoughts

I really love this foundation shade and would buy it again but will only wear it to weddings or other events that my makeup will be required to be on point.

bty

When i applied the foundation in NW55 and concealer in NW45. You can stop at this point for a more natural look or opt for an eye liner.

I will also keep to the NW55 although i think there should be another shade between that and the NW58. Its slightly bright by itself in pictures but i can work with it. One can wear the foundation and powder as is because it gives you a really good coverage in addition you can get really good pictures at this stage as well.

PhotoGrid_1515577867675

I took this pictures using my Huawei P8 and using filter demist which helps make every detail of your makeup stands out and one layer beauty filter.

Apart from the NW58 i feel MAC foundation when applied tend to be a bit brighter. And this is a mon avis (in my opinion). May i also add that they make the best concealers ever. I have tried other concealers but i find myself going back to MAC. I like the NW45 both the fluid coverup and cream one. For a more affordable one i will use the LA girl pro which i got from Beauty Bay.

You can get professional natural looking shots both for portofolios and personal keep in addition to artistic shots.

I hope this has been helpful.

Until next time, its bye from me.

BarryM Makemaker: Lip and Nail kit

Hello everyone,  I hope you have had a good start of 2018. I am back with yet another beauty review. And its the one and only BarryM match maker lip and nail kit. I got this for free when i purchased 3 lip pencils worth £2.99 each from superdrug. The kit was free when you spent £8.00 or more on selected BarryM costmetics.

IMAG0601

The nail polish colour is #Extravagant. its really pigmented and a little goes a long way.

Before i go any further i would like to take this opportunity to express how much i love BarryM lip pencils. The colour plum no# 11 is my go to lip liner pencil for all my lipsticks and glosses.

PhotoGrid_1515201430341

Picture on the left when i first applied the BarryM matte me up with lip liner BarryM in plum. Picture on the right is early hours of new years day.

I have the pencils in red, chocolate and plum and used to have burgandy. The plan was to wear the lip gloss and nail polish on new years eve to church but i could only wear the lip gloss as i was in a rush.

IMAG0613

I do not wear artificial nails. I prefer to grow and nurture my own. I have had to shorten them so they dont break as others have.

A couple of years back when i played with bright colours, i bought their nail vanish in bright colours. Then i switch to black for a while. I absolutely love this colour: looks red with sparkles. #Sold. I love red. I have a blog on bright colours coming soon. I already have a BarryM clear sparle nail polish which i want to wear with a black layer underneath.

I was in a rush on the day so i will upload better pictures of the lip liquid again next time. I am not sure how much it cost by itself.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time its bye from me.

Foundation: Fenty Beauty Foundation 460

Beauty, Uncategorized

As promised this is the review of the all famous fenty beauty by Rihanna which was recently released. I queued up outside Harvey Nichols to purchase the foundation and primer totalling £50.00. They each cost £25.00. We were given refreshment and samples when we were waiting so it made the whole experience nice. The security guard had Trophy wife on which i thought was cute 😄.

IMAG0501

Fenty Beauty Foundation in 460 and primer

I was actually shaded 430 at the door whilst we were waiting to get inside of Harvey Nichols. But when we arrived at the counter and were being matched with what had been prescribed for us, it was too light so we worked our way through some of the dark shade and arrived at 460. Lets get into it.

PhotoGrid_1514619583350

Swatch me: Fenty beauty application

The foundation

I believe 460 is my shade and it has a redish undertone to it although in the pictures  it shows a golden undertone. It also has a matte finish and dries quick so you have to be quick with application. I did not get the concealer as i already had a MAC NW45. The foundation exodises over time but i like the look it gives me.

The primer

The primer is creamy but if you have oily skin it will not hold the foundation longer than 6 to 8 hours depending on the climate and what you are doing on the day. You may need to blot it here and there after that many hours. One does not need to have makeup on for so long!

PhotoGrid_1514606126240

Fenty Beauty 460

I have worn the foundation on three ocassions to an interview as i wanted a more natural look. I also wore it on my first day of work because i thought i will have my ID done but turns out pictures were not required on our ID cards. Go figure! I have been wearing it to church so far.

PhotoGrid_1514608104061

With filter (demist) on Huawei P8. This indicates that it will be good for photo shoot as well. Natural and Over the top.

Finally there are a lot of reviews of this on youtube which is equally helpful. I do like the foundation and would recommend it for those looking for a matte finish look.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Until next time is happy new year

I got M.A.C -ed: M.A.C unboxing

Beauty, Makeup, Uncategorized

IMAG0479.jpg

It looks like i have another review coming up. I love M.A.C foundations so i was adamant about finding my shade with them again. I recently purchased these items from them on HOF.com. Their cream foundation helped me in my late teens in covering up my hyperpigmentation so we kind of had something good going on. You can call it my first love. 😍

I initially had the NW50 but over time i felt my complexion had changed so it was no longer matching my complexion. The cream foundation i usually wore was constantly out of stock so out of frustration i stopped searching.

I turned into a mixtress and started mixing NW50 and NW58 which is basically espresso-like shade, their darkest.  This was during the past 2 to 3 years until i got my hands on l’oreal true matches: deep golden and deep cool. I think NW55 is inbetween NW50 and NW58 so i am in good hands. I will review this with pictures once i try them on this weekend.

PhotoGrid_1514573691657

Swatch me: The studio fix fluid blended in with my skin so well i had to keep adding more so the shade stands out.

These are the items i purchased

MAC Pro Longwear Powder/Pressed
Product code: 221722114
Colour: Dark Deep
£22.50

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation
Product code: 160690735
Colour: Nw55
£23.50

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
Product code: 160693571
Colour: Nw45
£18.00

This purchase was partly subsidise by a £25.00 HOF voucher given to me by my old work colleagues, so I paid about £39.00 out of the total of £64.00.

PhotoGrid_1514550152661

This was not what i had planned to post however i couldnt contain my excitment so here it goes. Thank you for stopping by.

Until next time its bye from me.

Review: New Lancôme foundation Shade 16 (Café)

Beauty

As previously promised, today’s post is about the New Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear, 24 hour wear retouch-free.

The foundation gives a light to medium coverage and is really light weight however if you have hyperpigmentation you may have to used a bit more to build up the coverage.  When I wore it, it basically felt like I was not wearing anything on my face. It is really light and if it was not that expensive I would use it as an everyday foundation for work. It cost £31.50 for 30ml. I guess I can add it to my budget and invest in one each quarter, that should work. I will wear this foundation to an all day event because i know at the end of the day it will be easy to take off and will not clog my pores. If you want a natural look for a photoshoot this will be perfect for you.

IMG_20171226_171117

In the first and second image from the left I am only wearing the foundation. Third image with concealer and MAC X15 eye shadow. Lipstick e.l.f Ruby Red and red lip liner from BarryM

The first two from the left of the above has no filter so you can see the coverage.

Initially I wanted to buy the shade 15 which is moka but when I tried it in store it was a bit light so I went for the next dark shade. The one I initially wanted was also the old one, I was told in store that this is new.

IMAG0245

Packaging of the Lancôme foundation in shade 16 (Café).

In some other pictures I took, the shade is slightly darker. This may be due to lighting however it matches my neck and not my chest which is lighter. I did add a tiny bit to my neck to see if it will be any different.

From the picture above it looks like a perfect match and does not look too dark. I am glad it matches my neck. If I use a shade closer to my chest it would have been too bright.

I am not a makeup artist but what I have learnt from doing my own makeup is that, when you use a darker shade than your usually shade you can work around it using concealers. So what I mean is once you apply the concealers and highlighter, your face is all contoured. I have tried this technique with the L’Oréal and MAC espresso. All in all I do like this foundation and would buy it again.

My next beauty review will be on the fenty beauty shade 460.

Are you currently using the new Lancôme foundation? What are your thoughts?

Until next time its bye from me.

The evolution of the beauty industry…

Makeup

Lets talk beauty

Hello and welcome to my blog
Todays topic is about beauty. The evolution of my beauty closet kepaw!🎆 Lol. I have shared a few bits about my beauty closet in previous post reviewing the LA girl pro foundation and concealer. Lets get into it deeper. When I started buying my own foundation I started with Maybeline because the darkest shade they had was cocoa and I would buy lots of their product because they had Tomika Fraser Hines as one of their models and I wanted to look like her. I also thought well this is one time I see someone my complexion on a makeup brand and the shade was the darkest (at that time). There was Cover Girl too but that was not available in the UK.

Source: msmuneri.com|iconicfocus.com

Now there are many dark shades around. Mind you I used to get a lot of compliment for using Maybelin dream matte mousse in cocoa. I have used their dream matte mousse which is lovely, dream satin liquid and another one which came with a primer and creamy foundation in one container but two pumps. The shade I bought in the latter was too light as the darkest was caramel so it was a waste of money.

IMAG0259

Sleek in the colour cocoa

I also tried the Revlon foundation which also at that time I thought was dark enough. I liked it too because it gave me a good coverage. L’oreal didn’t have as many dark shades then as they do now. Maybe I didn’t see them or were not stocked as much in the UK then.

IMAG0258

Mirror mirrior on the wall, which of these are the darkest of them all.

Now there has been a change and the colour discrimination is slowly disappearing. You can see and get a lot more shades for those with dark and inbetween complexion.

L’oreal now has “we are all worth it” 😊 with their true match campaign which is a good sign as its inclusive of alot of shades. They also have the lovely Liya Kebede on their true match campaign whom i love; she used to be the face of Estée Lauder too.

Rihanna recently came out with 40 shades of foundations catering to more and more dark skin which i queued to be matched and purchased one in 460 in Harvey Nichols.

Lancôme now has the lovely Lupita on their advertisement as well. I recently got the teint idole ultra wear in shade 16.

As far as I can remember M.A.C has fulfil this void for quite sometime as I only started using it when my mum bought them for me in my college years at about between the ages of 17 and 18 in 2007 but only started doing proper makeup from 20 to 21. I think I started with NW47 or 55 in the studio fix cream foundation and it gave me a full coverage. I was struggling with acne and hyperpigmentation so it helped alot.

During that time it was difficult to find a MAC store in the UK so my mum would buy these from the US and at duty free because they were cheaper and accessible. Now we have ample of dark shades if you are lucky, you can find a perfect match if not keep looking and you will but bare in mind that your shade will change according to the moisturisers you are using, your skin care routine and changes in the seasons. Do not expect your foundation shade to stay the same.

Business side of things

Obviously the beauty industries has to also look at ways they can fulfil a demand or void in the beauty industry. The market is constantly changing and evovling what may have worked 10 even 2 years ago may not necessarily work now.

They mostly have to diversify to hold their market share or stay relevant. You have to think and move strategically and i see these with the collaboration with celebrities. Whereas you may get a sizeable revenue from that it is only short term. More thoughts and analysis has to go into the future product development. Be proactive in serving the market, are you taking reviews of your product to do better next time or over looking them. I understand not all reviews are valid. Product and pricing, accessibility; do we have enough of all the shades in each continent. There is still more room for improvement…

What are your views on the beauty industry?

Until next time its bye from me.

L.A Girl Pro Review: Rich Cocoa, fawn, dark cocoa

Beauty, Makeup, Natural Hair

First of all please note that i am not a makeup artist. When I started wearing makeup at age 20 or 21, I have gone from using maybeline, to revlon to now and still using l’oreal and MAC. I like the l’oreal true matches, although I have not found my true match yet both in foundation and man lol. Just kidding. I was mixing the espresso with cappucino to get to my match then I came across the deep cool and deep golden which worked but I want to try the cocoa which is a colour darker than the deep cool and deep golden. I will review this too once I get my hands on it.

PhotoGrid_1513977878818

Left foundation only | Right foundation and concealer

I recently bought some makeup product to try. Namely the L A Girl pro foundation in Rich Cocoa and the concealer in fawn and dark cocoa and the setting spray. I liked the foundation but looking at pictures it looks like my face is a bit white or bright but in real life it looks nice. I do not like putting foundation on my neck, I keep it just to the face so maybe if I do extend it to the neck it might give me a different look. I like the coverage and would say it gives me a medium to full coverage with a matte finish.

PhotoGrid_1513978861598~2

Lipstick: Revlon in pink pout. Lip liner: BarryM in the colour plum. Eye shadow: MUA Chamoisee and another dark brown colour

I will review Fenty beauty foundation in a later post.

The foundations I will be reviewing next are Fenty beauty in 460, loreal in cocoa, and Lancôme in café if I am able to get one in HOF (House of Fraser) store. I purchased 15 (moka) online only to go instore to collect for them to tell me they have run out, long story kept short. However instore it turns out i am colour 16 (café). Why lancôme? A friend recommended it some years back as a light weight so i will give a try and review.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Untill next time its bye from me

Welcome to my blog

Natural Hair Makeup

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a twenty something year old from the UK. I have a lot of quality content to share with you all.

I have been growing my natural hair since 2010 and have ample information about natural hair. I tend to use a lot of natural product and would like to call myself a “mixtress” and a “facialist” who is very happy being in her own lab. 😁 I also tend to use natural ingredients from the kitchen to combat acne and hyperpigmentation.

I am also experimenting with makeup and will be reviewing beauty products i have purchased online and in store. (Yes i like to play with colours). I am not a makeup artist but try my best to beat my face well to that standard.

Until next time, its bye from me
