Hello and welcome to my blog. This blogpost is about this week’s smoothie. Thankfully I found kale on my visit to Asda today so I bought a pack.

More than your five a day

The ingredient in the smoothie are as follows:

Kale

Spinach

Strawberries

Blueberries

Mango

Broccoli

Almond milk

Cinnamon

These are the ingredient I used to make the smoothie

Screenshot_20180527-202957

I didn’t use all the ingredient just so I don’t waste them.

This is your more than five a day in one glass. The last time I added kale to my smoothie I regretted it; this was a couple of years ago. I struggled to drink it as it tasted and smelt awful so this time I added Cinnamon as I have been doing. The taste is not so bad thank God.

Here we go, all of your more than five a day in a mug. With Love 💋

Until next time, happy smoothie making.

The week in review

Cooking, Food, Healthy Food, Healthy Meals, Journey To Clear Skin, Uncategorized

Hello and welcome to my blog. So it looks like I missed last week’s week in review. I was off from work so didn’t really do much with food. No smoothie however I did retreat to the usual chicken. This post will be a mixture of last week’s and last two weeks.

I had a bit more bananas this week as the tangerine and apples were quite difficult to eat. They were not as sweet as previous weeks fruits. 😬

As you can see from my lunch, I am trying to have a variety of meal and this is because I am not a big fan of food so I am trying to have different meals available to encourage myself to eat.

Until next time, it’s bye from me.

My Lamb Meatball Recipe

Balanced Diet, Cooking, Five A Day, Food, Healthy Food, Healthy Meals, Uncategorized
IMAG1419

These are the entire ingredient for the meal but for the purpose of this blog, I will stick with the recipe for the meatballs and final product of the meal.

Hello and welcome to my blog. As promised this is the recipe for my lamb meatballs I prepared in last weekend. I did not make it using the traditional ingredients. I have seen recipes which includes bread crumps which I have tried before but didn’t like the out come.

You may think why not just buy the meatballs and cook with it instead of putting yourself through all this stress? I like to make things from scratch just so I know what I am adding and how much. This is was one of my main reasons for eating more home cooked meals and eating less outside during my clear skin journey and I did see some improvement.

IMAG1420
Using your own discretion in the amount of ingredient you want to use. These are the ingredients I used

Ingredients:

  • 500g of mince lamb,
  • Half of red onions
  • Ginger
  • Grounded black pepper,
  • Dried mint
  • Grounded cayenne pepper
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • 1 Knorr lamb Cube
IMAG1422
Grate the garlic, onion and ginger and mix well with the a tea spoon of the extra virgin olive oil and spices (Mint, cayenne and black pepper)
IMAG1423
Wash the mince lamb to get any blood out and mix it into the mixture.
Mint Lamb Meatballs
You then make small balls depending on how big you want your meatballs to be.

Let this slowly cook in the fan oven but if you cant wait put the heat up for it to cook quicker.

IMAG1434

These are the colourful ingredient i prepared for the meatballs to swim in.

IMAG1452

Served with wholegrain spaghetti and parmesan cheese.

That’s all for today folks.

Until next time, happy cooking.

Hello and welcome to my blog. As always and without fail i try to make my smoothie each week. This is yet another all of 5 a day vitamin packed smoothie with vibrant colour fruits. This weeks smoothie ingredients are as follows:

Blueberries

Strawberries

Pineapple

Apple

Conference pear

Cinnamon

Coconut water

I have not taken the time to look at the ingredient on the coconut water carton well but i chosen it because other fruit juices tend to have too much sugar in them.

What’s cooking…?

Balanced Diet, Cooking, Five A Day, Food, Healthy Food, Healthy Meals, Uncategorized

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today i am revisiting a recipe i used to have regularly. I got the recipe from the BBC’s Good Food superhealthy suppers recipe book.

IMAG1312

The colourful ingredients i used. There are about 3 of your five a day in here.

The ingredients are as following:

Tomatoes

Garlic

1 each of Red, yellow and green bell peppers

3 Courgettes

Shallots

Lamb

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Grounded Spicies

Coriander

Cumin

Cayenne pepper

PhotoGrid_1517167290117

All the ingredients and finished product in one picture

I made a few changes in that instead of paprika i use cayenne pepper instead. I also did not include the coriander leaves and substitutes vegetable stock for lamb stock from the steamed lamb. FACT: From my research, i know that vegetables such as red bell pepper and tomorrow to name but a few have high levels of lycopen which is good for us especially the skin.

IMAG1328

Dinner is served. I had this with brown rice, making this meal nutrition packed 3 of 5 a day meal for lunch or dinner. In past i believe i have had it with bulgur and couscous.

You can pick and choose which vegetables you want to add or leave out. If you do try this, let me know your thought.

Until next time, bon appetit.

Let’s have a tea party

Healthy Drinks, Healthy Tea, Uncategorized, Vegetable Juicing

Hello and welcome to my blog. This post is about herbal powders and dried berries. I only started food swaps about 4 or 5 years ago when i bought the book The clear skin diet. My skin had been acne prone the longest time ever which had a toll on my confidence.

IMAG0948

The Clear Skin Diet Book

I finally said enough is enough and came across the book The Clear Skin Diet. Adopting some of the recipes and changing my lifestyle helped alot. I have an indepth post awaiting posting so i will share that very soon.

I recently bought a few things from realfoodsource which i want to share with you. I bought their organic green blend which is a mixture of matcha, wheatgrass, chlorella, spirulina and green tea. I also bought the Organic Maca powder and Organic goji berries.

IMAG0947

The green blend from realfoodsource

The goji berries act as my snack, they are very chewy and sweet so i rarely have other cravings at work. I also have the green blend tea whenever i am at work after my breakfast. I recently made a spinach, broccoli and blueberry smoothie with coconut water and added some of the Maca. The taste was alright. I have also added some to my oats which was not too bad. Previously i have drunk the following teas: goji berry, Pu-erh and green tea. I purchased them from a Chinese herbal shop in East Ham, London.

I was never into normal tea so i was glad to have come across other hebal teas upon an advise in The Clear Skin Diet book. I have read a lot of good things about Matcha which influenced my desire to buy the green blend and give it a try.

Screenshot_20180117-140342~2

Delicious Cucumber juice. This is not that sweet but the taste is acceptable. Kids may not like this so much.

Other drinks i have incorporated in my diet and love are carrot and cucumber juice. I recently went back to juicing but the juicer broke so i am stuck with a lot of carrot i have to try and eat. Drinking these two vegetable juice helped cleared up my skin too. When i run out of tea i drink hot water with lemon alone and at times with honey; using a straw because of the acidity of the lemon and my teeth. I do this in the early hours of some mornings at the moment.

IMAG0517

Delicious Homemade Carrot Juice. This juice is sweet and kids will love it.

I hope this has been helpful. Let me know which herbal teas you are currently drinking and any vegetable juice you have done or are currntly drinking.

Until next time, happy tea partyand happy juicing

I basically boiled water with lamb stock and pour the boiling water in the boil containing the bulgar and covered it to soften.

I then sort of steamed the vegetables and added them to the bulgar.
