The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Hello and welcome to my blog. So as we are all aware we now have a new Duke and Duchess in town. Congratulations to you both and I couldn’t be any happier for you.

dav

Just married

I was glued to the Royal family YouTube channel and adding to my WhatsApp stories as if I was there. I also took a few beautiful pictures.

The Duke looks into the eyes of the Duchess and smiles. This is love 😊

This post is about Meghan’s makeup on the day. I have to applaud her for her choice partly because we all know how much the makeup industy is worth. And if she had done alot and listed the names of the brand almost everyone will be rushing to get their hands on some of these products. Mostly the young girls who are into fairy tales. We live in the age where you can no longer tell the difference between a teenager and an adult. Most teenagers are mostly well made up with weaves most of the time. This used to be reserved for proms and birthday, it is now an everyday thing. When I was growing up I had braids and foundation to hide hyperpigmentation.

dav

Brides mother. Dorian Ragland

I believe it sends out a strong message to young girls that you don’t have to be overly madeup to be admired and as special as this day was for her she kept it bare minimal. And so was her mum’s makeup. Her gown was beautiful and simple. Yes she is from Hollywood and everyone was expecting to fall off their chairs but she chose to send a better message to all the young girls out there. Those with freckles and those who feel they are only beautiful with alot of makeup on.

dav

The Duchess of Sussex. Every strong man needs a stronger woman behind him.

It’s OK if you do not have the latest eye shadow pallette that everyone is reviewing on YouTube or the highlighter that has broken YouTube. Obviously she used a makeup artist who is a dior ambassador and it was costly but yet beautifully and lightly done. I probably sound like I am shooting myself in the foot however my point is whoever was waiting for a blinding highlighter and shimmer eyeshadow is disappointed because they may think boo she could have done more.  Sometimes it is better to make a statement when you hold a higher place in society. Remember Catherine’s wedding her makeup was not that much either. Some of the commentators were expecting Hollywood glam but she gave them natural beauty although it was still expensive. Use makeup to enhance the beauty you have and if it is for art purpose do it just for that but don’t make it an everyday norm or stipulate that this is how it should be done.

All the best to this couple. I am very happy for Harry that he finally found his princess.

Hello and welcome to my blog. As always I have to come back with my look on Sunday and a bit of the sermon.

Yesterday’s sermon was about anger. The scripture was taken from the book of Jonah 4. It was concluded that anger is not bad in itself however it what’s you do with it. Anger can cause you to murder and do a lot of hurt whereas anger about injustices is not so bad as long as you do good and not something silly to make a point. I myself suffer from this and hope to get better as the days go by, so help me God.

The look
I used my fenty beauty foundation in 460 and I have to say apart from Mac studio fix fluid in NW55 this is one of the foundations that suit my skin although it looks very red when you apply, it matches the skin right after. For eye shadow I used bare minerals morning glow in the inner corners of my eyes and nightfall  which is a bit brownish on the eye lids. I also used bare minerals lip gloss in sassy sorbet. The lip colour is a bit pink. In the outer corner I used a darker shade of a contour kit I bought from lightinthebox. I also used Maybeline eye liner in green shade 37 to line my bottom waterline and gel eye liner to line my lids. I had to add a bit of colour to the eyes seeing I was in floral mood.

I wore a floral dress I bought from asos a few years back. The brand is Vila Clothes and the shoes are nine west. The dress was on sale when I got it and the shoes were a gift. I love the length and fit of this dress. I have previously worn it with a skinny belt which looks just as good.

Here are a few pictures of my outfit:

For my hair I just took out the corn row I had on my head from Thursday or so and just fold and unfold.

What do you think of my look? Are you current in the floral mood? If not then what fashion mood are you in?

Until next time, have a blessed week.

About Sunday

Beauty, Church, Curls, Fashion, Hair, IMAN Costmetics, Makeup, Natural Hair, TeamNatural, Uncategorized

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am taking you right back to Sunday and by that you know this blog is well late. The sermon was what I needed to hear. It was about how Paul’s eyes were set on Christ who assured him many times when he was in prison that He will be with him.

He was aware of the sovereignty of Christ Jesus so he was not shaken. This teaches us that the more you know Christ the better you are able to face tough challenges.

The entire look:

The foundation I used for this look was the L’Oréal True Match in Dark Coffee. I used mac prolong concealer in NW45; the one in the tiny pump and mineralised skin finish powder. The gel liner is from lightinthebox and MUA eye shadow in chamoisee. For my lips I basically mixed L’Oréal the bigger the better and Revlon’s Mink Lipstick. The dress is from H&M and shoes are from New Look.

Finally, I hope you have had a blessed week.

Until next time stay blessed.

How I clean and oven bake my chicken

Balanced Diet, Cooking, Food, Grocery, Healthy Food, Healthy Meals, Uncategorized

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today’s post is about how I marinade and cook my chicken.

nfd

Making of the chicken

The clean

To clean my chicken I use lemon and ensure I take off any unwanted extra fat or hard bit on the legs.

The mixtress mixes spices too

I usually mix my own spices to marinade the chicken. It is only recently I have started adding other cudes and powdered spices. I usually crate onions, garlic and ginger. I then melt 2 knorr and let it cool. Adding a bit lemon and chilli powder as well.

dav

Onions, ginger and garlic

When the spice meet the spice

I let this stay as is for a while while I do something else or due to laziness just leave it there for a while. I then eventually place it in the oven to slow cook for about 2 hours at 100 °C. Ensure you regulate the temperature or cook it longer.

nfd

Melted knorr cubes

dav

I use 2 to 3 of this cubes depending on how many chicken I am cooking.

dav

Some more seasoning. Not ideal I know. The aim to ensure you know what you are putting in your food.

dav

Mix it all together. I squeezed a bit of lemon on it too

dav

I put this on a foil and then put it in the oven to bake or cook whatever you want to call it. I use a foil all the time as I feel it better that way healthwise. Let me know if this is how you cook yours.

nfd

This is how it looks after 1.5 to 2 hours. I cut parts of it so that the marinade will go on the inside.

You can now have this however you want it. With couscous, salad, rice potatoes or by itself.

Until next time, happy cooking.

The week in review

Balanced Diet, Cooking, Five A Day, Food, Grocery, Healthy Food, Healthy Meals, Journey To Clear Skin, Uncategorized

Hello and welcome to my blog. As you may have noticed I have not been posting about my lunch meals lately. I will be doing this on a weekly basis just to ensure that the post is properly prepared. For now let’s call it The week in review.

IMG_20180507_220741_388

For Monday I had potatoes, vegetables and lamb with gravy

IMG_20180508_133331_485

On Tuesday I had mix vegetables with couscous and chicken Nando’s lemon and herb sauce

IMG_20180509_132011_096

Wednesdays lunch was star shaped sweet potatoes with mixed vegetables and chicken

IMG_20180510_131733_471

On Thursday I wanted to have couscous but turns out the cous cous had gone off due to the heat. Preservation issues. So I had vegetables and lamb.

IMG_20180511_133421_229

Friday was mix vegetable brown rice and chicken with chilli sauce

I bought organic chicken this time because the free range available was to be on display till Monday. I noticed the taste was slightly different. It was really delicious. Might be due to how I cooked it.

As you can see I am trying to incorporate vegetable at every given chance. I am very strict about having a balance diet while ensuring that I have enough carbs and protein to maintain my weight.

In addition to this I have morning fruits thereby having all the nutrition I could possibly have.  So I am basically having more than five a day.

I would also like to invest in a juicer. A good one is very expensive so I am going to save up for that.

Until next time, eat well and you will feel better.

The making of my Shea body lovin’ butter (Nkuto) and a few health concerns about beauty products on the shelf

Beauty, Body, Carrier Oils, Hair, Journey To Clear Skin, Moisturiser, Natural Products, Uncategorized

Hello and welcome to my blog. It appear my first blog regarding this topic was not saved. It actually contained a lot of useful information so lets see if I can recollect my words. I have used shea butter ever since I was born. Being Ghanaian this was a staple body butter in my household in addition to cocoa butter.

My love for shea butter (Nkuto) and black soap explained

dav

Shea butter in a container. The ones I purchased from up north usually comes in the rock form. But the lady was not available to send it on a short notice so I had to settle with this.

These are natural moisturiser which can be used on the hair as well as the body. In a hot climate your hair will be shiny when applied whereas in a cooler one I guess not so much.

Yes I am a mixtress in case I have not confessed this before.

Screenshot_20180509-193947

Instead of melting the butter I blended it together with the other carrier and essential oils in order to maintain it properties and thus it potency

Being in the UK, this is usually my request when a family member goes on vacation to Ghana or a friend is visiting the UK. My other request being the black soap locally known as alata samina. This soap I believe is extracted from the leaf of plantain, when used it gives you a very good clean; you then need a good moisturiser to restore the skin or your hair back to nourishment. To use on hair, make a soapy water and massage on your scalp.

dav

The black soap in avocado flavour and the unflavoured one from the market. Although it is called black soap it is actually dark brown in colour and solid.

They now also come in different flavours such as lemon, avocado and aloe Vera. You can purchase the non flavoured from the markets in Ghana I believe.

Screenshot_20180509-193926

I add the oils and then blend to a creamy texture.

My aunty usually source this from the women in the northern part of Ghana so it is the unprocessed or unrefined shea butter. I would like to think that it is ethically sourced as it is being purchased directly from the women in the villages up north and thus paying them what they demand or the right amounts for them by way of appreciating the work they put into making it.

nor

The carrier oil and essential oil I added to the blend are: Avocado, Coconut, hemp, flaxseed, jojoba carrier oil and lemon, cedarwood, lavender and rosemary essential oils to give it a nice aroma

I purchase the essential and carrier oils from Naturally Thinking which a company based in Croydon, UK.

I recently learnt that, there are different flavours such as the cocoa butter shea scented shea butter. I am not too sure if they are just cocoa butter in the tablet or cocoa butter scented. When I was growing up there was just one type of shea butter and then there was cocoa butter.

dav

The cocoa butter in a cup form

Cocoa butter is the by product of the cocoa puds or beans when it is being manufactured into the cocoa powder for chocolate and Ghana is one of the highest producers of this. It smells like cocoa butter so I will just call it cocoa butter not shea butter cocoa flavour edition. 🤭

nfd

The yellowy colour is from the avocado oil and jojoba oil I added.

I recently receive the shea butter and the cocoa  butter from Ghana but have only managed to make a mixture with the raw shea butter. I added some carrier oil and essential oil for a bit of fragrance. The carrier oils are pH balanced so I am confident my skin is getting the nourishment it needs. And this is how it looks (Please see picture below and above). This mixture works well for my skin in summer however in winter due to dryness and itchiness I use Dove. I will try this mixture this winter and see if there are any changes. I am not too sure if I have dry skin or as stated before the black soap gives me a proper clean and thus drying to the skin.

dav

After struggling to find a container for the mixture, I came across

Recently I heard on the radio that shampoos and some beauty products for women have plastic in them which is harmful for us women especially and the environment as well. I will be switching back to the natural ingredient that I used to used. Although these products on the market are pH balanced(so they say) the majority of cosmetologist guru on Instagram are ambassadors and will not say anything bad about these products on the market unless it has a bad effect on them. Before, the natural hair YouTubers were advocates of natural product but now, not so much.

I will continue to use my shea butter  and black soap as those before me used them in the absence of the manufactured ones and were fine. So thank you and no thank you.

I will end this here.

Until next time, take care.

Hello and welcome to my blog. I have been slacking with posts lately but I have realised that I like to write although I get lost in the motion of Instagram due it the ease of posting on there.

I sort of took the usual ‘Today’s lunch looks something like this’ to there too. I have a new idea and you will see more posts from me going forward. I promise. 😊

Until next time it’s bye from me.

All dressed up and ready for church

Hello and welcome to my blog. So basically this blog is a bit late as it was meant to go up on Sunday. Nonetheless here goes.

IMG_20180506_160105_203

…but in your eye I’m a queen

The sermon was about how God can use anyone whether in faith or not for His purpose and for the good of His people. It highlighted the kind heart of some none believer but not down playing on their need for God’s righteousness which is in Christ alone.

I wore an african print which is loved by the masses. This dress was purchased for me by a lady in my church in London. And she bought it from a cloth shop probably a market in Ghana.

Until next time, stay blessed.
